Goodbye iPhone. I don't love thee anymore!
"Sony Idou is a Walkman mobile phone which includes similar features from both the iPhone and iPod."
If I knew how to record my giggle and put it on my blog, I would. But for now, you'll have to imagine me gleefully giggling about these little discoveries about the phone.
--The camera is better than the 8.0 megapixel Memoir. Idou has a 12.1 megapixel with Xenon flash.
--The unique touch screen is VERY intuitive.
--Users can watch movies and TV-series on its 16:9 wide screen format
--Comes out this summer.

Sony definately did a good job in researching what people want these days, their CRM is tremendous. Sony has a line of cameras, phones, televisions, DVD players, game consoles, speakers, etc. They keep up with technology, well they ARE techonology, and whatever consumers need, it seems like they're there to provide it.
Yay for Sony...and IDOU.

The article states, "...while Americans are tightening their belts, they're also discovering that saving money doesn't have to be painful. Buying a low-priced smartphone can feel like a splurge without much impact on your wallet."
Studies showed that in 2008, smartphone sales went up twelve percent from 2007. Which makes sense because the smartphone can do so much from e-mails, keep in touch with personal and professional contacts, news, and many other features. The plus side is that you can do it on your own time, at your own pace. You don't have to be stuck behind a desk anymore to do all it of. You can be taking a hike, sitting on a log, and do business talk.
More and more people are cancelling their land line phones and have converted into using their cell phone as a "home" phone. It's logical, it's cheaper. According to this article, the Palm Treo is by far the more popular phones among college students. The Palm is offered at a cheaper price (depending on carrier) and the only thing that college students need is the internet and texting right at their fingertips.
The Palm is almost everything you need if you don't have a bunch of money to spend: touch screen, QWERTY keyboard, internet access, communication by email-chat programs-text, and it's got a stylus! Woohoo for STYLUSES!
Please LOL with me while we watch my $60,000 movie!
The good:
The cellular phone helps us in cases of emergencies. We have a line of communication anywhere we go. The cellular phone is also a great tool to help the forgetful. I can't remember all (3 friends and 6 family members) phone numbers, email addresses, facebook names, home address, and birthdays.
The bad:
We feel unsecure without it. If the battery dies, the world is going to end. We are talking ALL the time. We get into more accidents because we try to balance the phone, eat our burger, and drive with our knees.
The OMG!:
We are so irresponsible about technology. In this article, there is a story about a guy who downloaded the movie Wall-E for his nephew to watch, while in Mexico. Although it was not on his cell phone, it was a wireless card from his cell phone carrier. He racked up $62,000 while downloading. Yikes, luckily the carrier was really nice; they reduced it to $17,000. Gosh...that kindness just brought a really warm nauseous feeling to my stomach!

Have you ever read the small print of your contract with your carrier?
If not, you might get screwed.
Brag Rights...
Frankly, this article explains it all. Not surprisingly, iPhone is on here. However, the author thinks that the Blackberry Pearl ranks number one.
Here are the ranks according to the PC Wolrd staff:
1) RIM BlackBerry Pearl 8120
2) Motorola Motozine ZN5 (Which I disagree. My friend Kaylina has one and every program loads like it on DIAL-UP.<---Does that even exist anymore? For all you people who don't know what dial up is...here you go: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dial-up.)
3) Samsung Omnia
4) RIM BlackBerry Curve 8320
5) T-Mobile G1
6) Apple iPhone 3G <---*SIGH*
7) RIM BlackBerry Bold 9000
8) T-Mobile Shadow
9) T-Mobile Sidekick 2008 (Does anyone have this? Do you feel like you are playing on a Nintendo DS?)
10) RIM BlackBerry Storm (This one is really cool. It have a touch/click screen; it's a touch screen and you push the screen like a button to select an icon...weird!)

I'm not a mother, yet, but these applications would keep ME entertained for hours!
1) QuadCamera-->The QuadCamera works with the application, BabyCam to take your kid's picture. The BabyCam has a sound button, consisting of bells, drums, doorbells, and songs (Mary Had a Little Lamb) and it helps to get your kids to smile for the camera. The other tricky part of taking a child's picture is for them to KEEP STILL! The QuadCamera takes 4-8 continuous pictures and them turns them into one image. Cost of Baby Cam=$.99. Cost of QuadCamera=$1.99
2) Scribble-->Keep toddlers (or ME) busy by letting them "finger paint" your screen. Shaking the phone will erase the image, like at Etch-A-Sketch. Cost=Free.
3) Nursing Tracker-->designed to make breastfeeding a little more organized. The tracker will log in what your baby was last nursed, on which side, and for how long. A stop watch function will keep track of up to 6 babies (sorry Octomom!). Cost=$7.99
4) Lose It!-->To help you set a weight loss goal and to establish a daily calorie budget. Cost=FREE
5) Big Oven-->Search the World Wide Web for over 170,000 recipes to help keep up with your weight loss. Cost=FREE
6) Asleep Kids-->This application comes with a timer and a selection of 15 lullabies to play during naptime. Cost=$.99
7) Toddler Cards-->basically, digital flash cards. There are pictures of animals, foods, shapes, and colors. This application can also help teach your child another language (turtle is la tortuga in Spanish!) Cost=$.99
iPhone=2/Competitor 0...
I have a Samsung Behold. I love it, but I'm having thoughts of cheating on my phone...
Can you picture me on an episode of Cheaters with Joey Greco? :p

OMG, My 'rents R w8ing 2 read dis...
What the hell?! And they're 9 years old.
Okay, I lied, I remembered carrying a pager. But it had no service; I made the alarms beep so I would look cool. My parents had no contact with me during school hours. If they wanted to contact me, they would have to talk to Mrs. (mean eye who smoked so much her voice was a raspy squeal), our school secretary.
As more kids carry mobile devices, like the lovely smartphones, parents take advantage of technology and use a software to monitor their kids' calls and texts. Programs like My Mobile Watchdog and Mobile Spy are amongst the many that are used to to track these transactions. These programs help parents create a list of contacts including : close relatives and trusted friends. When a foreign number from a call or text appears, parents would get an e-mail and/or text flagging that number. These programs cost about ten bucks a month with web access. My Mobile Watchdog will alert parents if their child has removed the software from their phone.
Law enforcement have started using these programs to help them track down as many as 44 sex predators in Colorado. An investigator for the Child Sex Internet Invistigations Unit in Jefferson County, Colorado, Mike Harris, uses these tools to catch sexual predators. He equipped his phone with the software and started going to social-networking sites to lure in pedophiles. The software documents every text message, every phone call, and any other data needed to testify against these CHESTER MOLESTORS in court.
(WOOHOO!)
Anyone heard of "sexting?"
Apparently, it's sending "sexy" or NUDE pictures through text message. If these pictures get into the wrong hands, people can get hurt. A related story to "sexting" was about a teen who took a nude photo and sent it to her boyfriend. She thought that if she sent it to her boyfriend, it would only be for her boyfriend to see. Oops. Her nude picture was sent to other teens in other high schools and she was being ridiculed and taunted. Ultimately, she collapsed upder all this pressure and hanged herself.
By the way, if you receive a nude picture of anyone who is under the age of 18, you are receiving CHILD PORN. Doesn't that sound icky?
---
On a more serious note, it seems logical for parents to use cell phones to track their kids calls and texts. Everyone is so busy with their own careers, sometimes we just don't have enough time to spend with our kids. When our kids feel like they can't bond with their own parents, they go to someone else. Sometimes the communication is through social networking sites where pedophiles prey on their next young victim.
So let's weigh out the factors:
-spend about $10 a month to track our kids EVERY move...
-spend at LEAST 2 hours a day (FREE) to talk to our kids to build that bond/trust that both parties need??
My parents may have not trusted everything that I did when I was younger, but they also gave me an open line of communication. If I had any questions about ANYTHING (yes, I talked about sex with my Asian mother..*gasp*), I could go to them; not that creepy Tom guy on MySpace.

I pledge allegiance to iPhone?
WHAT?!
"The iPhone now uses chips from a variety of suppliers including Samsung Electronics Co Ltd (005930.KS), Broadcom Corp (BRCM.O), Marvell Technology Inc (MRVL.O), CSR Plc (CSR.L) and Infineon Technologies AG (IFXGn.DE), analysts say."
Apple knows that they have TONS of competition out there. They're upping it a notch by specializing their own chips for the iPhone. Apple is focused on making the processor chip to use less energy with better graphis processing. In chapter 2, page 22, Apple is following one of the trends of "Generic Strategies."
We all love the iPhone, we love Apple, period. But when a company has HTC (Tilt, Touch etc, Sony-Ericsson, Apple iPhone, Blackberry, Samsung, Palm, HP iPaq, etcetera, etcetera...well that's RIVALRY. With the new processing chip, Apple is able to better compete with other companies and give their loyal customers another reason to stay with Apple products.
Score=Apple 1/ Competitors 0 *sigh* again...
