Something's In My Pocket...It's Pretty Big!

No, not that...

My cell phone. And the world.

I currently own a Samsung Behold from T-Mobile. Before that I owned a T-Mobile Dash. Before that I owned a HP Ipaq. The rest is history. Needless to say after I bought a my first "smart phone," I never went back. At times the smart phone was smarter than me, (damn!) and I forgot how to work a regular phone.

The article that I found is from MSN.com. It states that larger business used the smartphones to email and keep in touch for work. The trend for keeping in touch quickly spread to busy moms, college students, and just plain BUSY people that barely have enough time to brush their teeth.

The article talks about the "prosumer." A prosumer is the kind of user that wants more from his/her mobile phone. They want e-mail, games, movies, surf the Internet, keep track of important events, as well as keep in touch with people. In another related article (also a video stream) there is a program that can translate via phone. This adds onto another advantage to investing into a smartphone.

In Chapter 2 of our book, the case study titled, "Say 'Charge It' with Your Cell Phone," it descirbes how people in Japan, South Korea, and Europe are able to charge for a can of soda onto their cell phone bill. So maybe in the future, our smart phones will have an Express Pay chip like the American Express credit card.

Whenever you take a visit to Japan, don't forget your translating smartphone! Or else you might get thirsty, starve, and have no way of telling anyone. Hmm.
